Rubies are valuable gemstones and are often used to create jewelry. They benefit humans by providing accessories for humans to wear in order to boost their self-esteem and make them feel good about themselves because they know how expensive they are. They also provide humans with jobs as humans are needed in all steps of mining, production, and distribution of rubies.
Ruby mining requires the use of large amounts of machinery and vehicles which burn a large amount of fuel which in turn pollutes the atmosphere. Also, the overburden from the mining site is dumped either on land or in water and can disrupt ecosystems because it adds foreign/excess sediment to the ecosystem.
